Fan Art Friday: The Breathtaking Art Of Dave Keenan

04/21/2017 05:07 pm EDT

Nowadays it is difficult to tell when something comes from a major studio or just one talented individual. Artist Dave Keenan fits quite well into that latter group, and his love of Marvel, DC, and Star Wars has resulted in some fantastic artwork.

Keenan is a professional designer and illustrator, working in both digital and more traditional penciling methods. Regardless of the combination he uses, his work is extremely lifelike, appearing more like a photograph than something that just came out of his mind's eye. Take his second Captain Marvel piece for instance, which is a dead ringer for Brie Larson. Aside from the likeness though, the design of the costume is one that any fan of the character would be happy to see on the big screen and includes numerous texture and armor details that lend it some realistic weight.

The same can be said for his Batman, which does differ from the current Justice League suit, but most of the modifications are slight in nature, resulting in a powerful costume and pose. Josh Brolin was cast after his Cable was completed, but you could definitely see this being a choice for the designers over at FOX. There are many who wouldn't mind seeing this version of the time-traveling mutant hit the screen alongside Deadpool. Now he just needs a Domino to go with him.

Other highlights include the focused Iron Fist, the isolated Nova, a determined Adam Warlock, and an inspired and slick looking Jedi version of Boba Fett. There will be many who leave that picture wanting a version of him to hit the big screen, and you can't blame them. The visual is just stellar. There's also a stunning Hawkgirl black and white portrait to drool over, as well as a fantastic Iron Man with his back against the wall. The good news? He's at his best that way.

You can check out some of the highlights in the gallery, but there is plenty more Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and model artwork on Keenan's ArtStation and Instagram accounts. Make sure to check out all of his newer work there, which includes Batgirl, Power Girl, more Captain Marvel, and Harley Quinn. More Fan Art Friday's can be found below.
