Generation X Comic Book Returning with ResurrXion Event

Marvel Comics sent out a tweet today that should get X-Men fans excited - maybe even more so than that new Logan trailer!

The tweet reveals that '90s X-Men comic series Generation X will be returning in spring 2017, as part of the upcoming "RessurXion" event storyline.

We don't yet have any more details to share, other than what we can surmise from this comic book cover.

It's curious that almost every iteration of the younger X-Men teams appears in the fractured image on the cover. That includes The New Mutants, former Generation X team, New X-Men, Jubilee and Shogo Lee, etc. I would be a fair guess to say that the new book could pull elements of each former team together for a new group, which would be fun for Marvel Comics fans both old and new.

We do know that Marvel has made a controversial move of pitting the X-Men and Inhumans against one another in "Inhumans vs. X-Men," while the "Death of X" book reveals how the Inhumans Terrigen Mists became an extinction-level threat to mutantkind. With so many prominent X-Men now gone, "RessurXion" is an obvious soft-reboot of sorts for the X-Men universe.

So why limit themselves? Each incarnation of a younger X-Men squad has had its positives and negatives; pulling all the strong points together into a modern team seems like a promising idea.

We'll keep you updated on the status of the new Generation X, coming to Marvel Comics in spring 2017.
