Guardians Of The Galaxy: James Gunn Keeps Its Secret Easter Egg From The Cast

As fans continue the endless search for the Easter Egg hidden with in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, they are far from alone. The movie's cast is also being kept in the dark regarding the hidden extra in James Gunn's film.

In a recent interview promoting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt revealed he knows as much about the hidden Easter Egg in the first film as anybody else does (or, doesn't, for that matter).

"[Gunn] won't tell me what it is," Pratt tole the Huffington Post. "I asked him. He won't tell me. I'm like, 'C'mon, man. Don't you trust me?' He's like, 'No.' He thinks I'll spoil it. He won't tell me s---."

Countless theories and guesses have been debunked by Gunn. Most recently, a theory regarding Peter Quill namedropping the Richard Rider name of Nova caught on within the Internet but Gunn was quick to shoot it down, as well.

While Pratt doesn't know the details of the hidden Easter Egg, he does have a few ideas for what is next for his Star-Lord character. Speaking to ComicBook.com, the actor teased what we might be able to expect in Avengers: Infinity War and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

"I don't want give it away but I think that you're not alone in being excited about that collaboration," Pratt said. "I think the minute Guardians 1 came out and people responded to it, inevitably the question was, 'When are they gonna get to meet up with the Avengers?' and you're gonna get to see that."

The other lingering question following the first Guardians films was, "Who is Peter Quill's father?" As fans now know, the Marvel Cinematic Universe took the liberty of altering the character's comic book counterpart's genetics and make him the son of Ego the Living Planet. With the question being answered both for fans and Quill in the sequel, the character will be able to set his sights elsewhere.

"That was really important to him and a burning questions his whole life and we get to explore that in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Pratt said. "We're talking about him and his quest to understand the realities of his biological father and the lessons that come with that."

The future, which includes both of the Infinity War movies and the recently announced Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, "could be anything" according to Pratt.

"It's cosmic. We're expanding," Pratt said. "I'm curious to see what his history with the Ravagers was. Cosmic karma could be coming his way for being a little rapscallion for all these years. I like the idea of his becoming a father figure to little Groot. I like the idea of further exploring the dynamic between he and Gamora and trying to keep the Guardians out of trouble. I love him helping to explore the origins of the other characters and getting deeper into the other characters. It's really kind of endless. I hope we get to tell all of those stories."

The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
