Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2: How The Power Stone Changed Star Lord

There was no shortage of epic moments in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy back in 2014, but one of them stood out among the rest.

When Peter Quill reached out and grabbed the Power Stone at the end of the film, many thought he would instantly die. However, Quill was able to hold on to the stone by himself, and was able to wield its power when joined by his fellow Guardians.

Seeing Star-Lord grab the stone was enough to make fans cheer aloud in the theater, but don't think that moment didn't have an impact on the character after the movie had ended.

During a media set visit, the cast and crew were asked about a slew of different Guardians-related topics. At one point, Chris Pratt was asked if holding onto the Power Stone - which no one person was ever able to do - affected Peter Quill later on.

"It plays a certain role. His interaction with the Infinity Stone in the first movie becomes - there's a thread there that gets pulled in the second movie, like you get to know a little bit more. But yeah, that wasn't an unimportant aspect of who he is."

It's no surprise that a powerful object like that can affect a person, but let's also remember how grabbing that stone affected Quill right away.

Because he was able to grab the Power Stone, Quill learned that his father was a much more powerful being than he ever expected. This fact lead him on a search that we will see much more of in Vol. 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
