Kotobukiya Unveils Star-Lord And Baby Groot Statue

The release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just a few months away, and a plethora of merchandise has been unveiled in anticipation of it. But if you're looking for something a little more elaborate than what can be found in a regular toy aisle, the figure company Kotobukiya has the gift for you.

The company recently unveiled the newest piece in their ARTFX line, a statue of Star-Lord and Baby Groot from Vol. 2.

The 1/6 scale statue will measure at about 12.5 inches tall, and includes both a themed base and various attachable pieces, including a Star-Lord mask.

Official details from Kotobukiya are as follows:

"Sculpted by Dave Cortes, Star-Lord is rendered in exacting detail (by referencing actual film assets) in a pose brandishing his quad blasters! Caught in mid action, Star-Lord is over 12.5" tall on his included environmental base. Enjoy the flexibility of various display options through the use of additional headpieces and accessories. You can switch out his unmasked head to his helmeted head and take on and off his headphones. As an added bonus Groot appears to assist Star-Lord in his juvenile form, and can ride on his shoulder or try to keep pace alongside him!"

The piece will retail for $139.99. If you're looking to get the statue before Vol. 2's release, you might be out of luck, as it officially be released in September of this year. Either way, this piece is sure to be a must-have for fans of the loveable a-holes.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
