Marvel Studios Chief Says No Plans For Marvel TV Characters In The MCU

For those hoping to see Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist in the MCU soon, it looks like you've got a long wait on your hands.

In the past, Marvel has been rather vague on intertwining their television universe with their film universe. Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige was recently asked about the possibility of those Netflix characters showing up anytime soon (via ScreenGeek), and the odds don't look promising.

"Maybe someday. No plans right now. Maybe someday, but we have a lot of characters in the MCU, and one of the things that is so special about those characters on the Netflix shows is their dynamic together. They are all combining to become The Defenders later this year and are doing their own thing."

Something is clearly working with both their Film and Netflix universes, so it is understandable that Marvel doesn't really want to rock the boat if they can help it. While it would be wonderful to see these characters interact with the Avengers and Guardians, Feige does make a valid point that there are already numerous characters in the MCU to keep track of, and adding more just for the sake of doing so isn't perhaps the best long term decision.

As long as Marvel doesn't cast their own film version of these characters, it really shouldn't be an issue going forward.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters now. Spider-Man: Homecoming lands on July 7, 2017, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
