Marvel has always been a big proponent of progressivism and change. Now, the crew over at the House of Ideas promises their next announcement will change the entire comic book industry.

The impending announcement — which is slated to be made sometime tomorrow, June 23 — is in regard to the comic book publisher's upcoming Marvel Legacy event.

"A new initiative that will take things back to our iconic history, with a firm eye on the future, Marvel Legacy will present stories that remind everyone — newcomers and longtime fans alike — why Marvel stands as the premier name in fiction," Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso said.

While this is far from a universe-building reboot such as Secret Wars was, Marvel Legacy is geared to combining the characters of Marvel past with the ones currently found in the universe's ongoing comic series.

"Our titles will unearth gems from Marvel's rich history, remind readers of connections between characters, and usher in the return of some major characters who've been missed," reflected Alonso. "Above all else, we want to inject our comics with a massive dose of fun!"

It had previously been reported that Marvel would be going back to legacy numbering for their books, making sure to count every issue of a character's comic series, regardless of volume. That move began to take shape this May when the House of Ideas began to renumber the current Venom run with issue #150.

While we'll have to wait to see what this big announcement is, Marvel Legacy is slated to begin with a monstrous 50-page one-shot this September from writer Jason Aaron (Thor) and artist Esad Ribic (Secret Wars).
