Marvel Twitter Accounts Hacked

UPDATE 2 (1:22 PM ET): Marvel has replied to our request for comment with the following statement: "We're investigating and taking immediate action to remedy the situation."

Stay tuned to ComicBook.com for more on this story as it develops.

------

UPDATE: The Black Panther, Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Captian America and Marvel Music have also been hacked.

A second tweet has gone out from these attacks, inviting followers to upgrade their security at an OurMine website.

The attack also targeted Netflix, taking over the streaming service's main account. The only Netflix TV show accounts that seem to have been affected are the Marvel Television ones.

------

It appears that Marvel's Twitter accounts have fallen prey to a cyber attack.

Today, several of Marvel's twitter accounts, including the main Marvel Entertainment account, the Marvel's Daredevil account, Marvel's Jessica Jones account, Marvel's Luke Cage account, the Guardians of the Galaxy account, and The Avengers account each tweeted out a simultaneous message from the OurMine Security Group, a hacker collective.

The Tweets read, "Hey, it's OurMine, Don't worry we are just testing your security," and then list an email address for followers to contact the group, as seen below:

Adri Cowan, Marvel's Senior Manager of social media, also tweeted out the same message, indicated that she was also a victim of the hack.

We've reached out to Marvel for comment on the cyber attack. We will update this story with any response we receive.

OurMine Security group is a well known hacking organization. OurMine has previously hacked BuzzFeed and the TechCrunch industry news website, and the personal Twitter accounts of tech luminaries such as Jimmy Wales, the creator of Wikipedia, Pokemon Go creator John Hanke, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Facebook co-creator Mark Zuckerberg, who also had his Pinterest account hacked.
