Why Karen Page Is Important In 'The Punisher'

The Marvel series on Netflix have made a habit of crossing over, with criminal factions threatening different heroes and allies popping up in different shows. The trend continues with The Punisher, featuring Karen Page aiding Frank Castle in his quest to get revenge on those responsible for his family's murder.

Actor Deborah Ann Woll had significant appearances on The Defenders and both seasons of Daredevil. During the last season of Daredevil, her character Page became a close ally of Castle. They'll continue to explore that partnership when The Punisher debuts on Netflix later this year.

Woll spoke about her time with costar Jon Bernthal on the set of Daredevil.

"I have such affection for Jon and I was really sad when Daredevil season two ended because I didn't think I'd get to do Karen and Frank again," said Woll. "I really mourned the loss of that. So it was exciting when they said we could come back and continue this and we could push it even further and leave room for anything."

She added that Bernthal is committed to doing the character right and giving Marvel fans the series they deserve.

"Jon is so thoughtful and he always wants everything to be as good as it possibly can be."


In the series, Castle's bloody vendetta brings him into conflict with Daredevil, though his motives are mysterious. Page was the victim of a criminal conspiracy in the first season, so she doesn't let up in her quest to find the truth. She ends up helping him and puts him on the path to find those pulling the strings on the conspiracy, who are responsible for his family's murder.

She'll continue aiding the Punisher in the new series, though it remains to be seen how prominent her role will be. She's had a new career as a journalist as of Daredevil's second season, so her sleuthing skills will likely come in handy for Castle as he hunts down the criminals at the top of his list.

The Punisher is rumored to debut on Netflix sometime this year.
