Super Power Beat Down is a Web series comparing two comic book characters in a theoretical battle - as argued by geeks Andy Liegl and Bamian Beurer over at Batinthesun.

This week's 21st episode of the show takes a look at the future realms of the DC and Marvel universe, respectively, in round of Batman Beyond vs. Spider-Man 2099.

Spider-Man 2099: Created in 1992 as part of Marvel's futuristic "2099" line, Spider-Man 2099 is Miguel O'Hara, a brilliant geneticist who is trying to re-create the original Spider-Man's powers, and ended up in an accident that gave him said powers. Those powers include organic webbing, hard talons in his finger an toes for wall-crawling, enhanced hearing and telescopic vision, and even venomous fans he can use to bite and paralyze people.

Batman Beyond: Starting in 1999 as both an animated series and comic book, Batman Beyond is none other than Terry McGinnis, a troubled teen living in future Gotham City. When his father, a research scientist at Wayne-POwers is murdered by The Joker gang, Terry starts a campaign of vengeance that leads him to Wayne Manor, where he discovers a hi-tech suit of armor bearing the mantle of the long-lost Batman. When Terry defeats The Jokers, he and an elderly Bruce Wayne team-up to stop the real corruption at Wayne-Powers that got Terry's father killed. After that, Terry continued on as Batman, under Bruce's tutelage.

This match up is a lot like Captain America vs. Iron Man in Civil War. While Spider-Man 2099 has the natural enhancements and Spider-Man powers on his side, Batman Beyond has the armor, tech and gadgetry on his side. As we saw in Civil War, enhanced abilities are great for power and damage, but tech can give a strategic edge that can't be beat. In the end though, it does come down to who has the greater will and endurance; based on our own comic book experiences, street-touch Terry McGinnis has the harder mettle (and better back up) to prop him up.
