Marvel and Sony Tease Spider-man: Homecoming Sequel Title

Marvel and Sony's milestone collaboration on Spider-Man: Homecoming is generating some surprisingly strong first reviews, as the film enters the final stretch to its July 7th release date.

With buzz this strong, there's little doubt that the sequel chapter of the planned Spider-Man Trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to happen. In fact, while at the press junket for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel head Kevin Feige and Sony head Amy Pascal were already teasing ideas for the title to Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.

Well... Sort of.

When talking with Collider at the Spider-Man: Homecoming press day, Feige and Pascal were asked what the sequel title will be.

Feige played coy, saying "It will be 'Spider-Man: Subtitle...internally we just call it 'Homecoming 2' [for now]."

Pascal also teased that the sequel definitely won't have a "2" in the title, suggesting that the sequel will follow the example of Spider-Man: Homecoming by using a subtitle in conjunction with the "Spider-Man" brand name.

Early plans for the trilogy of MCU Spider-Man films followed the idea that each sequel to Homecoming would be set in the following year of Peter Parker's high school journey. Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place in Peter's sophomore year, which would presumably make the third film something like Spider-Man: Graduation. The title for the sequel (junior year) is anybody's guess.

...Get ready Marvel fans: Spider-Man: SATs will soon be in production! (Kidding...)
