How Tom Holland's Spider-Man Compares To Past Stars According To One Producer

Ever since his breakout appearance in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland's rendition of Peter Parker/Spider-Man has captivated audiences. And with Holland's interpretation of the character set to anchor his own film with this summer's Spider-Man: Homecoming, both Marvel Studios and Sony are hoping the film will win even more people over.

According to Amy Pascal, one of the film's producers, Holland's rendition shares some surprising qualities with his predecessors - Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

"Well I love all my Spider-Men, and they all have different qualities that I think are really special." Pascal explains to Collider. The thing that they all are is that they're all f*cking awesome actors. Whether it was Tobey, or Andrew or Tom, they can act like crazy. And I think that's been a really important thing."

Holland has drawn frequent comparisons to the two actors, who have played the web-slinger in the Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man franchises, essentially since he was first cast. According to Pascal, the distinct differences between Holland and his predecessors are important, and came into play when casting for Civil War and Homecoming.

"I think youth was really important. We tried to find somebody who wasn't English, but, there you are. We wanted somebody who looked like Peter Parker, and somebody who we'd have empathy for and who was trying really hard."
