Spider-Man's Tom Holland Has Someone In Mind To Play Johnny Storm

There are plenty of friendships which crisscross throughout the Marvel Universe, but few are as celebrated as Peter Parker's bromance with Johnny Storm. The youngest Fantastic Four member may be hot-headed, but the Human Torch's wicked sense of humor gets on well with Spider-Man. In the comics, the duo first met in Strange Tales #120, and their friendships has only grown stronger since. Fan have long wondered how that relationship could parse out on the big screen. And, if the pair were to ever make it into live-action, Tom Holland knows just who he'd like to have play Johnny.

Recently, the Spider-Man star sat down with Yahoo Movies for a live Facebook Q&A. It was there a fan asked Holland if he'd be okay with his best friend Harrison Osterfield playing Johnny, and the British actor seemed enthralled by the idea.

"I think it could work. He should," Holland said as he brought Osterfield on to the screen.

Of course, Holland's friend was also down for the idea. "I think that'd be amazing."

Of course, there would be one issue keeping the pair from coming together in a film: legal rights. Sony and Marvel Studios worked out a deal to bring Spider-Man into the MCU with Holland. However, when it comes to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, 20th Century Fox maintains a tight grip on those franchises.

"You'd be with Fox though - not with me. I mean, it'd be cool. We just wouldn't be on the same team. We wouldn't even be in the same [universe]. That'd be sad," Holland added. "Maybe one day! Maybe I'll play the Rock - not Dwayne Johnson but the Thing. The big rock."

For fans of Holland, they will surely be down with Osterfield playing Johnny. Not only are the actors real-life bros, but the latter is also a celebrated actor in his own right. Osterfield has starred in several indie shorts over the years like Colours and One in a Million. None of the projects measure up to the scale of an MCU project, but Osterfield's natural chemistry with Holland already mirrors that which Johnny has with Peter. If the franchise could somehow bring the superhero duo to the big screen while Holland is still around, then casting Osterfield should be on Marvel's priority list.
