Wolverine 3: Here's What We Know About Logan's Villains

Until now, very little has been known about the villain's of 20th Century Fox's third and final installment to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine franchise.

Having seen the first 40 minutes of the film, some details about Logan's bad guys have surfaced. In Logan, the Wolverine and his few remaining mutant friends will be taking on a force of security guards, some of which have been enhanced, who work for a corporation by the name of Transigen.

Transigen is a force to be reckoned with -- one which is aggressively hunting X-23 and has a particular interest in finding Charles Xavier. They're threatening enough to prompt Logan to lie and say that Charles has been dead for over a year when asked.

The ringleader of this merry band of baddies is Donald Pierce, played by Boyd Holbrook. Pierce creeps his way into Logan's life, despite Logan staying as far from the Wolverine spotlight as possible, and asks about a woman named Gabriela. A few minutes into the first act, we are able to put together than he knows little Laura Kinney is with this woman and he is on a mission to retrieve her.

Pierce, robotic right hand and all, repeatedly pops up in Logan's life when it's very inconvenient but is hardly a match for the pair of Wolverine and X-23 in battle.

The thing is: Pierce doesn't seem to be the head of the snake. Someone will likely appear behind the scenes and the popualr guess is going to be Mr. Sinister following the events of X-Men: Apocalypse (especially its post-credits scene). However, Logan gives us no indication that Mr. Sinister is involved with the mutant hunt.

Through the first 40 minutes, it doesn't appear that the men out to get Logan, X-23, and Charles are mutants. Instead, they are scientifically enhanced soldiers who carry machine guns. Bringing a gun to a mutant fight is often a losing battle, though.

It's most likely that Richard Grant's Dr. Zander Rice character, the X-Men comics villain who created X-23, is pulling the strings here. Possibly having cloned Logan and spitting out X-23 as a result could reveal the inevitably close connection between Wolverine and X-23 and why he sending out such an aggressive search party.
