When Anthony Mackie found out he was going to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron, he had the reaction every fanboy thinks they'd have:

"HOLY S***! I'M AN AVENGER!" he said during a set visit roundtable as covered by SuperheroHype.

His role in that film, of course, was just a cameo, with a scene in Ant-Man representing the Avengers helping grow his presence, in Captain America: Civil War he's well-established.

"I think moreso in this one that I didn't get to do before is become my own person. Now everyone knows who I am, so it's not 'Who's the flying guy?' It's more, 'Hey, Falcon's here.' You get to see my relationship with everyone else has grown as opposed to being the new guy on the team," Mackie said.

He went on to explain how he's the secret weapon of the movie - but not necessarily for #TeamCap, more for #TeamAudience.

"I'm being used strategically to ask the audience's questions," he explained. "So when Scarlet With is all [mimics her spell-casting motions], I'm like, 'You saw that? Right. Just making sure you f'in saw that.' Scarlet Witch and her crazy rave baby technique and Ant-Man riding an ant. All right, cool."

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
