Assassin's Creed Trailer 1 Stills Gallery

The first trailer for Assassin's Creed has arrived, and it looks like it just may break the "video game movie curse!" The trailer is action packed, with just enough of the story from both the present-day and the past to certainly intrigue fans of the video games.

We've gone through frame by frame and selected our favorite stills from throughout the first teaser trailer. We learned a lot about the movie, including that Marion Cotillard is actually a villain in the film - working for Abstergo and thus, probably, a Templar.

We see Michael Fassbender as both of his characters: Callum Lynch in the present day, and Aguilar during the time of the Spanish Inquisition. He clearly takes the skills he learns while experiencing his ancestor's memories, and uses them at some point in the present day to try to escape Abstergo's clutches.

Finally, we learned that the Animus is much creepier in the film. Rather than the game's simply virtual reality Matrix-style beds, the Animus here is much more interactive, requiring that the person in it can actually move (that actually helps explain how the skills transfer over, as muscle memory is quite strong).
