Christopher Nolan Says Princeton Graduates Are Better Than Batman
06/01/2015 10:11 pm EDT
On Monday, Christopher Nolan spoke at Princeton's commencement ceremony. The main focus of his speech was telling graduates to chase their realities as he doesn't believe in the "chase your dreams" speeches that you here far too often.
Nolan added a bit of levity to the room when he brought up the fact that Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) in Batman Begins briefly attended the Ivy league school.
"The most important thing about Bruce Wayne — yes, he attended Princeton, but he didn't graduate," Nolan said to roaring applause. "So as of tomorrow, you are all already better than Batman!"
Here's the Batman Begins exchange:
Alfred Pennyworth: Will you be heading back to Princeton after the hearing, sir, or can I persuade you to stay on for a day or two?
Bruce Wayne: I'm not heading back at all.
Alfred Pennyworth: You don't like it there?
Bruce Wayne: I like it fine. They just don't feel the same way.
