Everything Wrong With The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift

There's a lot weird, dumb, and infuriating aspects about The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, a movie about a kid who can't turn his vehicle. It's still an amazingly entertaining entry in the franchise, whether you like these movies or like making fun of them.

The "low budget" installment in the franchise was director Justin Lin's first, and he'd go on to direct the next three after Tokyo Drift. It retains all of the nonsensical irreverence from the first two films and applies them in a high school setting in Tokyo, which really just makes everything much more hilarious.

So with The Fate Of The Furious set to dominate box offices for the foreseeable future, it makes sense that CinemaSins would turn their analytical eye on the weirdest sequel in the Fast & Furious franchise.


They just released their latest entry in the "Everything Wrong With…" series, looking at Tokyo Drift in about 17 minutes. It's amazing that this entry isn't as long as their look at Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie, because they're both loaded with awful parts, lines, and plot points.

Though there are many minor things that even the most casual movie goers could shake their heads at, some die hard Fast & Furious fans seem to have a hard time with the movie's casual killing of fan-favorite character Han, who shows up for the later sequels and creates one of the craziest continuity mishaps since the X-Men movies.

Maybe after future movies in the Fast & Furious franchise go to space, they'll crack time travel (did someone say DeLorean?) and go back to fix whatever the hell happened in this flash-forward sequel.

The Fate of the Furious is in theaters now, making a ton of money.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game — and the rest of the crew has been exonerated — the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. For Fast and the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.
