Jurassic World Star Likely Won't Return For Sequel

Jurassic World 2 has already started production, so you can expect a few more casting announcements to follow. A notable absence from the cast so far is actress Judy Greer, who played the mom of Gray and Zach in the original film. She had a heartfelt reunion with her two boys in Jurassic World, but so far there isn't a reunion scheduled for Jurassic World 2.

Greer is currently starring in her new comedy Wilson, but when CinemaBlend brought up the possibility of her returning for Jurassic World 2 she said: "Not as far as I know yet." As time goes on it seems less and less likely that she will be featured in the film, a film that is highly anticipated but is still rather mysterious. That mystery has helped it attain a 3.44 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.

Director J.A. Bayona has only given a few details about the project, including a reference to its darker tone. "I think it's very interesting where the new movie is heading. It's so different from the other films, it talks a lot about the moment we live in right now. It's darker… but at the same time it's going to be a lot of fun. It's a blockbuster, you have Chris Pratt, it's a great adventure, but it's very interesting the way the film is darker than the other ones."

Jurassic World 2 is being directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire), Chris Pratt (Owen), Rafe Spall, BD Wong (Dr. Henry Wu), Toby Jones, and Justice Smith. The film is being produced by Belen Atienza, Patrick Crowley, and Frank Marshall, with Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers.

In Jurassic World, located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinos to run amok. Now, it's up to a former military man and animal expert (Chris Pratt) to use his special skills to save two young boys and the rest of the guests from an all-out, prehistoric assault.

Jurassic World 2 is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018.
