Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is Inspiring New Baby Names
03/30/2016 10:38 am EDT
Star Wars has always influenced popular culture ever since it debuted back in 1977, but it has also had its share of influence on many a baby name as well.
The same can be said for the latest entry Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. According to Baby Center, two names, in particular, have skyrocketed since the film's release. Kylo has taken the boys list by storm, lifting by a whopping 67% since 2015. As for the girls, the name Rey has risen up the charts quickly, overtaking more than 11,000 spots in the same time frame, coming to an increase of 82%.
Though Poe and Finn have not seen the same rise, other related names like Jedi and Rogue have, possibly in light of the upcoming Rogue One spinoff film. Sadly, other great names like Maz or Unkar haven't taken hold either, but maybe they'll catch on in 2016.
About that Kylo name though, you guys know he's evil right? Just saying.
