The Fate of the Furious is set to break global box office records in its opening weekend.

After a record-setting debut in China, The Fate of the Furious is on track for a record-breaking $430.4 million international debut.

That total combined with The Fate of the Furious's approximately $103 million domestic opening weekend debut puts the film on track for a global box office opening weekend of $534.2 million, shattering a second record in the process.

The Fate of the Furious is a Universal Studios picture. Universal's Jurassic World set the current international opening weekend box office record of $316.7 million in 2015. The Fate of the Furious will leave that record far behind.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the current worldwide opening weekend box office record, also set in 2015 at $529 million. While the margin for this record is closer, The Fate of the Furious still looks to pass the benchmark comfortably.

The Fate of the Furious opened globally in 63 markets and raced to first place in all them. The Fate of the Furious has had particular success in China, where it set a new single-day box office record of $65.5 million. The Fate of the Furious is now on track to earn $192 million in its first three days in China, which will set a new three-day total box office record for the market.

The Fate of the Furious is the eighth film in The Fast and the Furious franchise. It is the first film in the series since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to not star Paul Walker, who died in tragically in a car crash during a break in the production of Furious 7.

In The Fate of the Furious, with Dom and Letty married, Brian and Mia retired and the rest of the crew exonerated, the globe-trotting team has found some semblance of a normal life. They soon face an unexpected challenge when a mysterious woman named Cipher forces Dom to betray them all. Now, they must unite to bring home the man who made them a family and stop Cipher from unleashing chaos.

The Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan. The film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kurt Russell and Charlize Theron.

The Fate of the Furious is now playing in theaters.
