Family Startled By Great White Shark 'Bigger Than The Boat'

Sharks can be incredibly intimidating to encounter out in the wild, and as one family in Australia found out, they're even more intimidating when they're bigger than the boat you're in and swimming around you.

Craig Hudson took his 10-year-old son out to fish when all of the sudden their little boat began to be circled by a Great White Shark.

Hudson just so happened to capture the whole thing on video and at one point he can be heard saying, "I'm shaking right now boy, that thing is massive. Probably bigger than the boat, look at him."

The shark appeared to be incredibly large and gave Hudson and his son quite a scare as he says, "He's probably about 16 foot… I can't even keep the bloody camera still I'm shaking that much."

Hudson's son can be heard begging his dad to move the boat on as the shark's fin breaks the surface of the water, revealing he's mere feet away from their boat.

At one point the shark can even be seen swimming underneath their boat.

The whole experience is jarring and Hudson and his son's trepidation is entirely understandable.

Sharks have been making more of an effort to be seen by humans lately it seems.

Last week, a group of boaters saw firsthand the incredible appetite sharks have when they caught one on camera chowing down on a dead whale.

Luckily, Sharks aren't known for attacking humans out of defense. Studies show that when sharks do attack it's because they've mistaken a human for their natural prey, which would be any number of marine animals, sea turtles, or large fish.

Maybe the next time Hudson and his son go out fishing they'll take a bigger boat.
