First Look At Draco And Scorpius Malfoy In Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

Pottermore has revealed the first look at Draco Malfoy and his son, Scorpius Malfoy, in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Draco is played by Alex Price, and Scorpius is played by Anthony Boyle. These character portraits follow first looks at Harry, Ginny, and Albus Potter and and Hermione, Ron, and Rose Granger-Weasley earlier this week.

Price is an accomplished actor who has appeared on television shows such as Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful, and Merlin. His theater credits include 3 Winters, Birdland, and Before the Party. Boyle has appeared in Herons and East Belfast Boys, the latter of which he co-wrote.

"I love Draco and Scorpius – they actually look related!" said Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

In developing his own take on Draco, who wasaHarry's school rival in Rowling's books and the Warner Bros. film adaptations, Price said it was all there in the script

"Jack Thorne's script. Start right there," Alex said. "And there's obviously a massive history of books to draw on. You could tie yourself in knots worrying about it. But our first job is to serve this play and J.K. Rowling's characters as best we can."

While Price seems confident in his approach, both he and Boyle are aware of the amount of anticipation and the level of the expectations surrounding the production.

"The world outside has been brilliantly marshalled and been kept away from us by our producers," Price said. "It's only slowly starting to rear its head now and it's intimidating, a little scary, but also very exciting because Jack is such a brilliant writer and he's taken the story into a great place 19 years later, particularly for Draco."

"You can just feel the excitement in the building,: added Boyle. "We've been in the Palace Theatre for over four weeks now which is where we can do all the things you couldn't do in the rehearsal room. We just can't wait to show it to everyone."

Check out the portraits in the gallery below. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child officially opens at the Palace Theatre in London in July 2016. Preview performances begin June 7.
