Friday The 13th, Part 13 Casting Twins For A Young Jason Voorhees

Producers of the latest Friday the 13th franchise installment have begun casting for the film, including the role of the series' main character Jason Voorhees. However, the casting call adds a new wrinkle to the film that fans are sure to speculate over.

Project Casting (via Bloody Disgusting) states that the filmmakers are "looking for Caucasian male actors who are identical twins and age 12, for the role of Young Jason."

That's right, casting directors are looking for TWINS for the young Jason Voorhees role!

Does that mean they're going to retcon Jason's origin and make the killer part of a pair? Or possibly two Jasons? Or is it that they need to maximize filming hours without violating child labor laws, as Bloody Disgusting speculates?

It's all up in the air, at this point, as plot details have yet to leak for Friday the 13th, Part 13 except that it might be an origin story. But seeing this numerical installment of the series, the number may have some significance, and the latest attempt at the saga of Jason Voorhees might mean we get some fresh additions to the character's mythos.

With Bryan Fuller involved (who deftly brought Hannibal Lecter to the small screen), all possibilities are on the table. The producer is known to shake up his adaptations, and he has hinted before that the film will deal with the origin and mythos of the series. Casting a Young Jason lends credence to those hints, but how it all adds up is anyone's guess.

Friday the 13th, Part 13 will begin filming in Atlanta soon and is set to be released October 13th.
