Katherine Waterston Discusses The Violence Of Alien: Covenant

The first footage for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant film sent one clear message: this movie is going to be extremely violent.
The footage shown at 20th Century Fox's 2017 showcase event in New York City saw an unfortunate victim carrying a Neomorph alien inside of him having his spine ripped out as the alien emerged. A bloody showing of alien birth completely wrecked the man's body and left the audience is awe as blood dripped from a his carcus folded backwards as it hangs on a medical bed.
It was a topic of conversation immediately following the footage reveal a few weeks ago. ComicBook.com caught up with the star of the upcoming film, Katherine Waterston, and discussed her take on the horrifyingly violent new movie.
While Waterston admits the violence is quite heavy, she insists it is nothing fans won't be able to handle or enjoy.
"It's freaky," Waterston said. "It's definitely scary. I think people can handle it but it's going to be a thrill. I don't think it's going to destroy anybody's lives or anything but it is definitely scary. There's levity in it, too, and wonderful interpersonal dynamics and stuff. That was something that was so great about the original film. You really felt you knew these people and that they were specific and lovely and sad to see them go."
In Alien: Covenant, Waterston plays a botanical engineer aboard the Covenant space ship as it heads to another planet. Of course, her crew runs into trouble when the new race of aliens called "neomorphs" decide it's not only time to be born inside of humans, but also eat them alive.
