Honorable Mention: Malibu's Most Wanted (May 1st)
This 2003 racially-charged comedy is a cult-classic for good reason. Jamie Kennedy plays a rich kid who desperately wants to live the gangsta rapper life, and a deep bench of great co-stars make this one of those "so bad it's good" viewing experiences. Grab a few craft brews and have a good laugh.
Nerdland (May 1st)
Paul Rudd, Patton Oswalt, and Hannibal Buress headline this animated film about two best friends (Rudd and Oswalt) who go to Hollywood seeking fame - no matter the cost. It looks like a demented good time with some geek-approved comedians voicing us along, which means we'll definitely be checking it out.
Sense8 Season 2 (May 5th)
The Wachowski Sisters' ambitious sci-fi action drama made it back for a sophomore season - and was thankfully so. Sense8 has a strong geek following, and that fanbase was really excited by where season 1 left things, and the potential for big things in season 2.
If you haven't checked it out, be sure to watch the Sense8 Christmas special, which bridges seasons 1 and 2.
The Host (May 7th)
This may be a story written by Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer, but it was also a movie written and directed by Gattaca and The Truman Show's Andrew Niccol, with a talented lead in Saoirse Ronan.
The premise (a YA Invasion of the Body Snatchers) may not have been worth a theater visit, but it's a fine geek pick for a Netflix viewing.
Sherlock: Series 4 (May 15th)
The BBC's hit series (which helped launch the career of Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch), brings fans what could be the show's final chapter. Things are very different when Watson becomes a daddy - just in time for one of the most ruthless threats that Sherlock Holmes has faced to rear its ugly head.
Riverdale Season 1 (May 18th)
We've done plenty of coverage on Riverdale, which has emerged as one of the mid-season's best new shows. This is your chance to get onboard with The CW's latest successful comic book TV show adaptation, before season 2 arrives.
Inglourious Basterds (May 22nd)
Quentin Tarantino's 2009 WWII revisionist fantasy is hitting just in time for the summer blockbuster season to kick into full swing - and it's a wonderful slice of at-home counter-programming to bite into.
Doctor Strange (May 30th)
Marvel's most successful solo character origin film is coming to Netflix just in time to tide fans over from Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 hitting theaters. We know quite a few geeks who have been waiting to take this magic cloak ride all over again.
Supergirl Season 2
If you didn't get into the show during its initial run on CBS, don't fret - things improve vastly in season 2, when Supergirl landed at The CW alongside fellow DC Superheroes Arrow, The Flash and The Legends of Tomorrow.
Supernatural Season 12 (May 30th)
Who knew that Supernatural would be still going strong this long? But the underworld that it is!
IF you haven't caught up in awhile, season 12 is worth binge prep. The Winchester Brothers and their mythos only gets bigger and better.
The Flash Season 3 (May 30th)
Unfortunately The Flash seems to have hit the same season 3 stumbling blocks as Arrow - but hey, maybe it'll play better in binge-watch form?
The season teases the mystery of yet another evil speedster (Savatar), and yet another dark prophecy of time and fate. There are some nice new cast additions, and a few good character developments, but beyond that...
