New Alien: Covenant Photos Released

20th Century Fox has unveiled a batch of new photos for the upcoming Alien: Covenant film. By now, you've likely watched the Red Band trailer for the R-rated film which dropped over the holiday weekend.

If not, we have it for you right here.

The three new photos offer intense looks at some work on set and scenes from the film. Pictured in one is returning director Ridley Scott, doing his job aboard the Covenant set. In another you'll see the horrifying scene from the first trailer which leads to the birth of a neomorph alien and death of several humans -- more on that here. The third photo shows Katherine Waterston's character in an alert battlefield mode with a crew member at her side.

You can see the new photos at the front of the gallery at the bottom of this page!

Headed toward a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew members of the colony ship Covenant discover what they believe to be an uncharted paradise, but it is actually a dark, menacing world in which the only inhabitant is the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender), a survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Alien: Covenant is director by original Alien movie helmer Ridley Scott and stars a largely new cast with the exception of Fassbender who appeared in Prometheus. Starring in Covenant are Fantastic Beasts star Katherine Waterston, Eastbound and Down alum Danny McBride, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, and Guy Pearce. Rumors have circulated of Noomi Rapace reprising her role from Prometheus for the new movie which is, in many ways, a follow-up to the 2012 film.

Franco's role is rumored to be a small one, mostly appearing in the first 10 minutes of Alien: Covenant and then popping up briefly here and there throughout the rest of the film. Franco's Branson will also appear in viral marketing footage that was shot for Alien: Covenant's marketing campaign.
