Regis Philbin Reveals How Kelly Ripa Really Felt When He Left 'Live With Regis and Kelly'

Regis Philbin left Live With Regis and Kelly six years ago, and the 85-year-old is famously no longer on speaking terms with his former co-host, Kelly Ripa.

In a new interview with Larry King Now Wednesday, Philbin explained the reason behind the pair's rift.

"She got very offended when I left. She thought I was leaving because of her. I was leaving because I was getting older and it wasn't right for me anymore," he said.

"She took it personal?" King asked. "Yeah, I think so."

Philbin, who hosted with Ripa for a decade, added that he is shocked he hasn't been asked to co-host with Ripa as a guest.

"Never once did they ask me to go back," he shared.

When asked if he would consider hosting another talk show, Philbin was thoughtful.

"I don't know," he said. "How often would it be? Would it be every night? Every day? I do miss it, there are times when I really miss it and wish I'd never stopped. But, you know, I just figured it was time to let go."
