WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for Scandal season six!

If you tuned in to Scandal's newest episode, 'Trojan Horse', then you were likely left stunned by the episode's end. In a moment that virtually no one saw coming, Elizabeth North was brutally murdered.

The character - played by Portia De Rossi - was beaten to death with a golf club, as she stood in the way of a major political movement in Washington.

Lizzie has been on the show since season four, and fans are still pretty upset by her surprising exit. They aren't the only ones who will miss the character however, as Portia De Rossi released a statement about her Scandal send-off.

"I am incredibly grateful for my time here at Scandal!," De Rossi said. "I will miss playing Elizabeth North but I've made the decision to focus on a business opportunity. Shonda, Betsy and the cast have been incredibly supportive of my decision. I will always love my Scandal family. I'll be watching!"

Creator Shonda Rhimes also chimed in on the departure, singing the praises of De Rossi.

"I have been a fan of Portia's for years and it was an honor to have her join our Scandal family," she said in a statement. "Portia infused Liz North with a smart powerful vulnerable soul while also making the humor sing — and that brought all of us in the writers room a lot of joy. If I could keep her forever, I would — but kidnapping is illegal. Besides, I am incredibly impressed with the vision she has for her creative future. I wish her all the best."

The bodies keep piling up on Scandal, but the main characters have stayed fairly safe so far. Will that change as season six comes to a close?
