Space Jam Returns Thanks To Michael Jordan

It has been 20 years since Michael Jordan joined the cast of Looney Tunes to battle the Monstars on the court in Space Jam, and Jordan is celebrating the anniversary with a new Air Jordan Holiday clothing line.

The announcement begins with via a Tweet that revealed the new holiday clothing line. That tweet was followed by a strange, transmission-like Tweet and then another that heralded the return of the Monstars.

It's not entirely clear what all of this is supposed to mean. The clothing line is a thing in and of itself, and it partners with the 20th anniversary Space Jam steelbook combo pack and the film's return to theaters.

The rest is up to a little more speculation. The second and third tweets are most likely just meant to build the 20th-anniversary nostalgia for Space Jam so that fans will go out and buy some t-shirts and a copy of the Blu-ray. However, those more optimistic about the Space Jam franchise's future may suggest that it's teasing a sequel.

In Space Jam, Swackhammer (Danny DeVito), an evil alien theme park owner, needs a new attraction at Moron Mountain. When his gang, the Nerdlucks, heads to Earth to kidnap Bugs Bunny (Billy West) and the Looney Tunes, Bugs challenges them to a basketball game to determine their fate. The aliens agree, but they steal the powers of NBA basketball players, including Larry Bird (Larry Bird) and Charles Barkley (Charles Barkley) -- so Bugs gets some help from superstar Michael Jordan (Michael Jordan).

Originally released 1996, Space Jam was directed by Joe Pytka.
