WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS for SPLIT FOLLOW!

*****

As we here at Comicbook.com predicted, movie fans got their first big surprise of 2017 with M. Night Shyamalan's Split. Split's link to Shyamalan's 2000 hit, Unbreakable has now been revealed - and a sequel film to Split/Unbreakable has already been confirmed by Shyamalan himself.

With the secret now out, the star of Split, James McAvoy, is finally opening up about keeping the secret of the film's ending, and where he fits into the future of the franchise.

Talking with Empire, McAvoy echoed the story of how he knew going in about Split's link to Unbreakable, and how the cameo from Bruce Willis grew out of "some weird little allusion to the fact that it might be linked to Unbreakable, but it was so subtle I kinda discounted it. Then on the last day of rehearsals I was like, 'mate, is this thing linked to that thing?'.... None but the greatest fanboy alive would ever have noticed it. So it went from being a tiny music cue to a whole fullblown scene with a major movie star in it."

The sequel presumably sets up Bruce Willis' David Dunn to battle McAvoy's Horde, and Empire had to ask the Split star about how that battle would go. According to McAvoy, "When two baldies go to war, my money's on B-Dog. I hope he lets me call him that."

Both Horde and David Dunn have unnatrual strength and durability; however, Horde also has great agility, and the cunning of twenty-four different personalities. That's all to say: even with years of experience under his belt now, David Dunn is in for a fight - and fans can't wait to see it.
