Stranger Things Learned A Lesson From Game Of Thrones' Secrecy

The first season of Stranger Things was produced and shot without much need for secrecy; the Netflix darling had yet to debut and therefore there wasn't a rabid fanbase yet.

But that's all changed of course, and now that production for season 2 is underway, the producers are working hard to keep everything under lock and key.

And to learn the best methods for keeping prying eyes out, producer Shawn Levy and co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer sought advice from some of the best in the business.

"We literally consulted with the producers on Game of Thrones to learn security protocols," said Levy.

He reiterated that the buzz hadn't built before season one debuted.

"We had no security protocols last season and we have extensive security protocols this season. I can't speak about what they are because then people could crack them," Levy said, "We protect every story point, every page of every script."

"I just knew I used to throw my sides away and now they have to be burnt," said Ross Duffer.

Those protocols stretch to the materials given to cast members as well, according to Eleven actor Millie Bobby Brown.

"Now we have a code name [for the show]," Brown said. "And now I have a code name! It's this weird thing. On the call sheets our names are across it and if we lose it, we're dead."

Despite the increase in security around the set, it's doubtful that will keep fans from trying to figure out whatever hints they can.
