The Flash's Grant Gustin & Tom Cavanagh Are Crowdfunding a Comedy Short

The Flash star Grant Gustin and his co-host Tom Cavanagh, who will direct the show's next new episode, are getting together to crowdfund a comedy short in which they rob a bank.

Well, we guess the high concept isn't quite as exciting as Riverdale's Ashleigh Murray, who appeared in a feature film about robbing trains, but what can you do?

The short will be titled Tom & Grant, and the pair are looking for $80,000 to bankroll things like post-production, permits, craft services, and of course to cover the fees and perks involved with an IndieGoGo campaign.

From the look of it, most of the cast and crew they've got lined up are willing to work for free, but there are costs involved with making a decent-looking movie that simply can't be side-stepped, even if you're famous.

You can see the pitch video above, in which the pair appear on the set of The Flash to plead their case and appear to be answering fan mail at the start.

The film is a short, so neither the video above, nor the official teaser text for the project, tell you much abuot the story. Why? Well, presumably because the film itself is short enough that just about any meaningful plot synopsis would be a major spoiler.

Here's how they describe the movie at the IndieGoGo landing page, where you can go pick out a perk and support the film if you want to:

TOM&GRANT is a HEIST. A bank job. And we want your company as we undergo the robbery. Here's the thing, though: we need greenbacks, moolah, cash money, $$$. We need a l'il help fronting the capital to get the operation off the ground, see. After all, TOM&GRANT wouldn't be thinkin' about knocking off a bank if they had stacks of cash to make a short film.

The pair apparently are planning on shooting it during a break from The Flash, or perhaps after the season ends and before they go back home for hiatus, as the project page says their window for filming is only four days.

Cavanagh wrote and will direct the short, which will also star Ellie Harvie and Betty Dubney.
