First Look At Charlize Theron On 'The Orville'

A major guest star is set to board The Orville in next week's episode,

Charlize Theron will reunite with her A Million Ways to Die in the West co-star Seth MacFarlane for the fifth episode of The Orville, titled "Pria."

Theron will play the episode's title character, Pria Lavesque, the captain of a mining ship that the Orville arrives in time to rescue before her vessel collides with a comet.

Lavesque will come on board the Orville and Captain Ed Mercer (Macfarlane) will quickly become smitten with her. However, Mercer's first officer and ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) is suspicious of Lavesque's true intentions. This will almost certainly provide The Orville with a new opportunity to interrogate Mercer and Grayson's feelings for each other post-divorce.

Check out photos of Theron as Levesque and more from "Pria" in the attached gallery.

Theron will no be the first major star to make an appearance on The Orville, though she was announced ahead of time. Liam Neeson made a surprise appearance as Dorahl, the captain of a derelict bioship who had been worshipped as a god-like figure, at the end of last week's episode, "If the Stars Should Appear."

Jeffrey Tambor also made an appearance Mercer's father in the show's second episode, "Command Performance."

These also likely won't be the last major stars to drop in on The Orville. MacFarlane has already stated that there are some cameos by former Star Trek actors in the works, which should play well to The Orville's fanbase since it is MacFarlane's love letter to The Next Generation era of Star Trek.

The Orville debuted to strong ratings following NFL football on Sunday nights, but those ratings have dropped significantly since moving to its regular Thursday night time slot. Perhaps some high-profile guest stars will help draw eyes back towards to show.

The Orville airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
