Tribbles Return In 'Star Trek: Discovery' Episode 3 Photos

After an explosive two-part debut, Star Trek: Discovery is back, and bringing a familiar furry friend along for the ride.

Star Trek.com recently released photos for Discovery's third episode, titled 'Context is For Kings'. You can check them out in our gallery below.

While the photos showcase a few different moments onboard the U.S.S. Discovery, the most noteworthy thing is the Tribble, which sits upon a table while Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) and Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) have a conversation.

While the Tribbles are best known for their cuddly, amusing appearance in the Original Series episode 'The Trouble With Tribbles', it will be interesting to see how they factor into Discovery. The creatures have been known to be a strong enemy of the Klingons, something that will further complicate the Klingon/Federation conflict taking place on Discovery.

Ironically, the rest of the episode's photos don't provide a lot of 'context' for what will happen in Discovery's next installment. Burnham is shown speaking to both Lieutenant Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and Saru (Doug Jones), as well as inspecting a fiery hallway with Stamets and Cadet Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman).

Discovery's premiere, "The Vulcan Hello", was watched by nearly 10 million viewers on CBS and the premiere of Discovery drew a record-high number of new CBS All Access sign-ups.

If Discovery proves successful, more Star Trek series could be on the horizon, including a Star Trek anthology series or the rumored prequel about Khan Noonien Singh. Hopefully fans will get to see even more Tribble appearances in those later installments.

New episodes of Star Trek: Discovery will stream on CBS All Access Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET.
