The cast of Star Trek: Discovery is getting ready to boldly go on brand new cosmic adventures, but the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew advises that they keep themselves grounded.

Several members of the Star Trek: The Next Generation crew attended the 30th-anniversary panel at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention and shared their advice to the stars of the Discovery.

"Save your money," was the advice of Marina Sirtis who played Commander Deanna Troi (via Trek Movie). "Stay out of Gucci."

"Save your money. Don't buy anything big for three years," added Michael Dorn, who played Worf. "I work with quite a few actors who have been in the business a long time and the one thing that they always say is that they didn't appreciate what they had at the time until much much later. I would say definitely anybody who is starting out to really appreciate where you are and what's happening. You are extremely fortunate."

To that end, Gates McFadden, who played Dr. Beverly Crusher, suggested they "Enjoy it while you can."

When Star Trek: The Next Generation debuted in 1987, the franchise was in much the same state it is today. Having been off of television for over a decade, the franchise has been carried on primarily through a series of movies starring a version of the Star Trek: The Original Series cast. Now, nearly 30 years later to the day, it is again up a new cast on a new ship to return the Star Trek franchise to where it all began, though this time around it will be streaming only.

Set 10 years prior to the five-year mission of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Discovery follows the adventures of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters, and new missions while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Star Trek: Discovery will debut on Sept. 24.
