A Lightsaber-Wielding Portland Man Rides A Horse Through The Streets At Night

One thing we have never seen in the Star Wars world is lightsaber duels on horseback. One fan is changing that...sort of.

If you live in the Portland area, you might be able to catch a glimpse of a man taking to the city streets, keeping them clear of the dark side of the force, wielding a lightsbaer while riding his horse. He's the ultimate space cowboy...on the streets of earth. Yes, this is really happening.

According to local Portland news site, Oregon Live, the man unleashing his Jedi skills on the streets of Portland is Joshua Dallman. He's not from another galaxy, just a 36-year-old professional living on the west side of the U.S..

Dallaman is not out for the spotlight but he said he's "always happy to be an ambassador for the species."

"I admit that when galloping down the middle of the street downtown full-speed at night past a crowd at a club or a bar that then starts cheering wildly, it's pretty fun," he said, "and I can feel that my horse gets a little kick out of it too."

Dallman, a horserider of 10 years, acknowledges that riding in the city is dangerous but, along with his horse, loves the challenges the city presents.

"It's much more interesting in the city than out on some monotonous trail," Dallman said. "I ride bareback, so if my horse spooks or stops suddenly, I can be tossed on concrete at 25 mph, like riding a motorcycle with no helmet."

The Force is strong with Joshua Dallman.

There is nothing illegal about what he's doing, either. Portland Police Bureau Sgt. Pete Simpson says the only rules are that riders must obey traffic laws.
