The anthology book Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View has shed light on a variety of mysteries about supporting characters in the Star Wars saga, regularly surprising fans with bits of information that's remained unknown for 40 years. One of these shocking revelations is that Han Solo stole a woman from Greedo, named "Uncelta," which made the bounty hunter's confrontation in the Mos Eisley Cantina very personal.
An excerpt from the story "The Luckless Rodian" written by Renee Ahdieh, reads: "He [Greedo] would never understand what Uncelta had found so appealing in Solo all those years ago. The smugger had always been a worthless excuse for a man, while Uncelta had been everything Greedo had cherished in a woman. Greedo would have loved her as she deserved to be loved. Not dallied with her like that Corellian scumbag had chosen to do."
The rest of the story explains more about the love triangle, which portrays Greedo's desires as more of a passionate crush on the character, with his feelings going unreciprocated. The relationship between Uncelta and Han didn't end well either, with the smuggler supposedly breaking Uncelta's heart.
In the '80s and '90s, Star Wars fans were treated to a variety of stories about their favorite characters in the "Expanded Universe." When Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, those stories were erased from official canon, with the live-action films and animated series being considered the only official entries into the narrative.
Along with Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm came new movies, TV series, books and comic books that would all be considered canon going forward.
Surprisingly, a Marvel comic featuring Han Solo revealed to readers that the smuggler was at one point married, sullying his romantic entanglement with Princess Leia to some.
With how little we know about the upcoming Han Solo spinoff film, fans can't help but wonder if we'll see any of these failed relationships on screen.
We'll find out more when the untitled Han Solo spinoff is due in theaters May 25, 2018.
