Star Wars: More Possible Han Solo Director Replacements Named

Two more directors' names are being tossed about into the arena for possible replacements on the Star Wars Han Solo movie.

Lawrence Kasdan and Joe Johnston are now also rumored to be in the running to replace Phil Lord & Chris Miller on the film. Ron Howard was also previously rumored.

Kasdan is an Oscar-nominated writer, director, and producer. He co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and co-wrote the script for the Han Solo movie.

Johnston is a director whose resume includes Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, Jumanji, Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, October Sky, The Wolfman, and Captain America: The First Avenger.

Ron Howard is known for films such as Cocoon, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and The Da Vinci Code.

Lord & Miller were reportedly removed from the Han Solo movie with three weeks left in production after clashing with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy.

"Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we've decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon," Kennedy said in a statement.

The movie is still expected to make its current release date.

The Han Solo movie currently has a 3.35 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation rating. Let us know how this director shakeup has affected your excitement for the movie by giving it your own ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

The Han Solo movie is currently filming at Pinewood Studios in London. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.

The Han Solo movie will be the second standalone Star Wars movie following Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year. Filming began in January 2017.

The Han Solo movie is set for a May 25, 2018, theatrical debut.
