Star Wars: The Last Jedi - New Details About Kelly Marie Tran's Character Revealed

One of the biggest announcements out of Star Wars Celebration this year was the addition of Kelly Marie Tran to the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Tran came out on stage during the Last Jedi panel, but little was revealed about the character's role in the upcoming film. During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, some new details emerged about her character, Rose Tico, and her relationships with the rest of the characters.
Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with two of the Resistance's biggest assets, Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega), clearly Tico will hold her own as an asset in the fight against the First Order.
According to the Vanity Fair feature, Tico is a maintenance worker for the Resistance who, at one point, goes on a mission behind enemy lines with Finn. Additionally, Tico has a sister named Paige, who at one point has an interaction with Poe.
The details don't paint either Rose or Paige as integral components of the film, but considering Han Solo was merely a smuggler and Luke Skywalker merely worked on a farm when they got involved with the Rebellion, many of the franchise's most important characters have had humble beginnings.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.
