Ewan McGregor Wants To Be Obi-Wan Again, He's Just Waiting For The Call

Star Wars Celebration has come and gone and though the event was jam packed with exciting news and enticing announcements, some dans were left wanting.

Apparently a trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi wasn't enough! They wanted Han Solo news. They wanted more anthology spinoffs!

More specifically, they wanted OBI-WAN KENOBI.

There have been rumors about the next movie in the Star Wars Story anthology films, which could either focus on Boba Fett or something else. Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy even spoke about the possibility of making a new announcement this summer, but there's nothing set in stone as of this moment.

Those hoping for confirmation of a film focused on Anakin and Luke Skywalker's mentor might have to keep hoping, as the star himself is down to do it but has not yet been approached.

"There's no official offer, and I haven't met them about it or anything," McGregor said to EW. "But I've always said that I'd be happy to do it if they wanted to do it. It would be a good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes. I think they've got films to make until the 2020s, so I don't think it's going to happen soon if it happens at all."

The ball is in Lucasfilm's court—JUST THE WAY THEY LIKE IT. Who doesn't enjoy having leverage over world famous superstars?

Remember, 2020 is not that far away, and Episode IX is set to come out just a year before. It's not like an Obi-Wan solo film IS NOT in the cards, and based on Kennedy's comments they like to have a clear creative focus before executing a plan. Remember when they announced Josh Trank was making a spinoff? That didn't exactly work out.

So trust in the plan and keep expressing enthusiasm for Kenobi Space Wizard: A Star Wars Story, and hopefully we'll get it sooner than later.
