Star Wars: New Details About Supreme Leader Snoke Revealed

Later this month, the Star Wars fandom will be sent into a tizzy thanks to an annual event held by Lucasfilm. Orlando will host Star Wars Celebration, and the highly anticipated convention is said to host plenty of exciting surprises this year. Not only will a slew of celebrities be featured at the event, but reports have all but confirmed that the first footage of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be shown publicly at the celebration.

To gear up for the event, fans have spent more time than ever surfing the Internet for clues about The Last Jedi. Earlier today, one noted fan-site left the online fandom in surprise when it reported new details about one of Star Wars' most mysterious characters: Snoke.

Over on Making Star Wars, the editor-in-chief published a lengthy article detailing new information about Snoke. Jason Ward said the character gets a total makeover for The Last Jedi when compared to his shadowy debut in The Force Awakens, calling him opulent and extravagant to a t.

"Snoke is looking more and more like a new character," Ward writes. "The thing is old Snoke wears more outfits than just that boring black robe and in The Last Jedi we get to see him looking very decadent. I think what he wears is probably insightful to his values and concerns as an evil being. Snoke wears a gold silky robe with a very ornate pattern on it in The Last Jedi."

The description goes on to highlight the fact that Snoke also reportedly wears a large ring. While the character's hands may be shriveled up, Snoke does rock some jewelry which houses a large black stone, a gem which many assume to be a Kyber Crystal.

While there were few details to give about Snoke's throne room, Ward did have some information to share about the villain's guards.

"Things get weirder when it comes to the new "Praetorian Guards" of which there are six to eight of them. I'm not sure if they're actually called "Praetorian Guards" or if that is their placeholder name because of the similarity to the Roman Imperial Guards. These guys are a new spin on the Royal Guards that Emperor Palpatine used," he writes.

Snoke will oversee the First Order's movements for most of The Last Jedi from a mobile command unit on his Mega Destroyer. The article says the ship may be the largest ever seen in the Star Wars franchise, and Kylo Ren will also get some swag despite having failed to stop Rey in The Force Awakens. According to Ward, the petulant villain will have a brand-new TIE fighter made especially to cull the Resistance.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong'o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
