Fans are receiving the just-released Rogue One: A Star Wars Story quite positively, and thanks to the secrecy from the studio the film does include a few surprises. Now that the film is out, one surprise has made its way online and reveals the presence of a fan favorite character.

Spoilers ahead for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so if you haven't seen it make sure to check out our other Rogue One coverage here instead.

Rogue One takes place in-between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. That's why Darth Vader shows up for an exciting appearance, but it turns out another popular member of the original trilogy also shows up, that being Princess Leia. The casting was released after the movie had a chance to hit theaters (via Reddit), and Princess Leia was played by Ingvild Deila. Along with Leia's casting, it was also announced that Guy Henry played Grand Moff Tarkin, who also made a surprise appearance in the film. Both were digitally altered by ILM, the powerhouse VFX team, to appear as a young Carrie Fisher and the deceased Peter Cushing, respectively.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
