Does This 'The Last Jedi' Toy Reveal A Third Death Star?

The Star Wars trilogy has always had a cyclical nature, with Return of the Jedi recycling the Death Star concept and The Force Awakens updating a space station the size of a moon to a planet capable of mass destruction. The packaging for an upcoming The Last Jedi toy could hint at another Death Star being created in the upcoming film, or it's a marketing mistake that no one spotted before release.

The responses to the packaging, as anticipated, involved lots of naysayers dispelling the idea that any military organization would be stupid enough to create the same exact structure, but considering how much Kylo Ren idolizes Darth Vader, it is tough to immediately rule out.

Pablo Hidalgo, a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, happily chimed in to say, "I don't think box art has the power to confirm such things. :)"

Upon close inspection of the art, it appears to be an image of the original Death Star with an original Imperial TIE fighter behind Kylo's TIE Silencer, which will make its debut in the upcoming sequel.

Making Star Wars also posted that this wouldn't be the first time The Last Jedi recycles famous iconography for merchandise, as Pottery Barn is releasing a bedding set that also features images of the Death Star.

With the end of The Force Awakens including the destruction of Starkiller Base and The First Order being forced to retreat, we shouldn't expect the organization to immediately construct an object known for having one specific area whose destruction would result in complete annihilation, but it's hard to predict what their next move will be.

The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
