YouTube Star Auditioned For Young Lando Role

During a panel at VidCon this weekend, YouTube star sWooZie told the audience that established Hollywood actor/producer Donald Glover seemed to always be one step ahead of him, having nabbed two recent jobs that sWooZie went out for -- including the coveted role of a young Lando Calrissian in the as-yet-untitled Star Wars spinoff centering on Han Solo.

The star of the forthcoming Lace Up on YouTube also implied that he had auditioned for The Lion King, but had lost out both roles to Glover.

"I also auditioned for the new Star Wars. That was awesome," sWooZie said. "This guy, Donald Glover. You know who Donald Glover is? Childish Gambino? He's taking all my roles, bro....He got Star Wars over me. He got Lion King, 'cause they're redoing Lion King."

The Lion King role is part of another Disney live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of The Jungle Book, and another in a growing line of live-action adaptations of the studio's animated classics.

Glover, who has a music career as Childish Gambino, is also appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming this year and will executive produce a forthcoming Deadpool animated series for FXX.

The Han Solo spinoff is filming now under director Ron Howard for a May 25, 2018 release. Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
