"Losses" And "Betrayal" Coming In The Walking Dead Season 7 Finale

The Walking Dead Season 7 finale already promises to be drastically different than its premiere.

With Rick Grimes and his Alexandria survivors finally banding together to take on Negan and his Saviors after eight consecutive weeks of humiliating episodes seeing Rick manipulated and belittled. Several cast members have spoken on the sixteenth episode of Season 7, calling it a "big turning point," and teasing the major changes which will come to the show in its wake.

However, showrunner Scott Gimple is chiming in now and his take of the episode seems more grim than most. The man in charge is teasing both "losses" and "betrayal" in the Season 7 finale, which does not sound like a winning scenario for Rick Grimes.

"Well, there are losses," Gimple said. "As the stakes get higher and higher... things start to get more intense and heartbreaking, and yet everyone has to sort of band together and keep going."

Like much of Season 7's back half, the finale will balance its gritty, dark moments with a sense of levity. Gimple says the Greg Nicotero-directed "has darkness and light, real horrific moments, betrayal, and real moments of beauty, redemption, love, and friendship. It's sort of the panoply of human and Walking Dead experience."

Panoply? Meaning, the complete collection The Walking Dead experience all in one episode? Does this mean we're going to get Negan, baseball bats, zombies, Alexandria, Hilltop, Kingdom, tigers, and kids missing eyeballs all in one hour of television?

In regards to the "losses," fans have been eyeing up one particular character with expectations for her to bow out before the current season concludes. As for the betrayal, Jadis feels like a likely candidate to deceive Rick but we should not overlook the possibility of either Eugene flipping alliances or even a particular Savior turning his back on Negan in favor of Rick.
