Robert Kirkman, creator or creator of The Walking Dead, Outcast, and many more popular comics, TV series, and more, turns 38 years old today.

The first issue of The Walking Dead was published by Image Comics in October 2003. The comic series has run for over ten years and 134 issues, and it is one of the best-selling comics being published today.

On October 31, 2010, The Walking Dead television series premiered. The Walking Dead is currently in its fifth season and is the highest-rated ongoing series in the history of cable television. Kirkman serves as a producer on the series, and he has written or co-written several episodes.

Kirkman also created the superhero comic book series Invincible, which will end in 2017. Other comic book titles that Kirkman has worked on in the past include Ultimate X-Men, Marvel Zombies, Marvel Knights 2099, Jubilee, Fantastic Four, Captain America, Marvel Team-up, SuperPatriot, Haunt, Ant-Man, Killraven, The Astounding Wolf-Man, Super Dinosaur, and The Destroyer.

The Irredeemable Ant-Man and Marvel Zombies may seem like footnotes on his impressive resume at this point in his career, but they helped catapult the writer to mainstream awareness.

Kirkman is a partner at Image Comics -- the only non-founder to hold that position -- something that he has described as a dream come true for a '90s comics kid who grew up reading Spawn and Savage Dragon

Kirkman recently produced the feature film AIR, which stars The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and Guardians of the Galaxy's Djimon Hounsou. He's also part of the writers' room on the new Transformers movies, the first of which will come out in 2017.

Robert Kirkman was born on November 30, 1978 in Richmond, Kentucky. He turns 38 years old today.

Happy Birthday, Robert Kirkman.
