Melissa McBride Reveals Her Favorite Memories Of Steven Yeun From The Walking Dead

Steven Yeun is very much alive but his portrayal of fan-favorite character Glenn makes every conversation about him feel more like a eulogy than just any conversation.

Glenn Rhee was one of only six characters introduced within the first two episodes of The Walking Dead's run on television to survive until the Season 7 premiere. By the time Episode 7x01 (The Day Will Come When You Won't Be) came to an end, that number would be reduced to five as Morgan, Carol, Carl, Rick, and Daryl continue to carry the torch as Glenn bowed out upon Negan's introduction.

For the actors playing those five surviving roles, though, the journey to that point with Yeun was one full of growth, fun, and unforgettable memories.

Speaking to ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview, Carol actress recalled her favorite parts of working with Yeun through The Walking Dead's first six seasons.

"Oh man, my favorite thing about working with Steven was just seeing him develop from when we all first got there to the time he left," McBride said. "Just watching him grow and become so, just such an amazing, seasoned, wonderful, beautiful actor. I loved to watch him as a human being. Just to get to know him as a human being. He truly is one of my favorite people. We never really had any scene scenes together, except one that never made it to the episode."

That scene may never surface, though McBride is eager to dig it up.

"I wonder where that is," McBride says. "I just, I'm so blessed to have come to know him at all, and he's become a dear, dear friend. I hate it that he's gone."

Yeun seems to have left an impression on much of The Walking Dead's cast. Michael Cudlitz's Abraham Ford character bowed out in the same episode but three years on the show, half of Yeun's run, doesn't seem to be enough to earn Big Red the same amount of chatter among Internet comment sections while cast also seems to share the same grief over losing him as a co-star.

Since The Walking Dead, Yeun has landed on his feet. The young actor recently got married after his new Netflix series Trollhunters became a massive success and nabbed a second season. He will also be appearing in the live action adaptation of the popular Chew comic book while many others hope to see him become Nightwing in the DC Extended Universe.

The Walking Dead is currently ranked fifth in ComicBook.com's user rankings. The only shows earning better rankings are Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, Daredevil, and The Flash. Be sure to head over and rank your favorite shows!
