Negan's Bat From The Walking Dead Is Amongst The Most Unusual Items TSA Confiscated This Year

We all know that flying can be a hassle. Whether its the long lines or invasive security checks, travelers are understandably weary of making any airport snafus. For many people, double-checking carry-on bags is just a part of life when it comes to TSA checkpoints to ensure they don't get flagged for any inappropriate items. But, of course, there are those who don't quite think before they step through the metal detector.

This year, it seems like a slew of those rule-breakers brought about TSA headaches thanks to nerdy weapons from The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.

About a month ago, the official TSA Instagram posted a photo of a confiscated carry-on item they took from a fan of The Walking Dead. The passenger had tried to bring a replica of Negan's bat Lucille onto his flight in Atlanta.

"This replica of @AMCTheWalkingDead's "Lucille" was discovered recently in a carry-on bag at Atlanta (ATL). The barbed wire is actually made from rubber and the blood is fake (we hope). However, baseball bats are prohibited from carry-on bags and must be packed in checked luggage. #TWD #Negan We're just glad Lucille wasn't thirsty," the post wrote.

As for Game of Thrones, one fan thought they could get away with bringing a bladed finger weapon onto their flight without checking it. "We're pretty sure this isn't a letter opener. A bladed dragon claw perhaps??? Whatever it is, it should be packed in checked baggage. It was discovered in a carry-on bag at Atlanta (ATL)."

Other fandoms were also guilty of overlooking TSA's rules for carry-on items. In Boise, one passenger had their Sai swords confiscated, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were no doubt horrified by the travel breach.

The official synopsis for Season 7 of The Walking Dead lies below:

"Up until this point, our characters have lived through conflicts... Disease, hunger, scores of the undead, tragedy, betrayal, and unthinkable loss. Through this, they've become formidable. Powerful. Unstoppable.

To start Season Seven, that power is taken away. They had found safety and stability. They had created a home. They thought the world was theirs. They thought they knew the world. They were wrong.

The first half of Season Seven sees our group fractured, broken, bereaved, and picking up the pieces while living under the thumb of oppression. Negan will have successfully brought the survivors under his control, brutally convincing them to live under his rules with a deadly and horrific example of what happens if they don't.

Other characters are unaware of what's happened, but have become separated from the group either by incident or choice -- they will learn that they can't escape this new turn of their world, either. This half season is about these characters starting over.

The overall theme of the season is beginning again. The world isn't what they thought it was. It's bigger and it's even more dangerous."
