The Walking Dead: Scott Gimple Teases Exciting Season 7 Finale

03/17/2017 01:11 pm EDT

As fans learned in last week's episode of The Walking Dead, the foot is on the gas heading into the seventh season finale. There are only three episodes left in the season, but fans are being told they are the most exciting of the series.

Scott Gimple - executive producer and showrunner - says the show is about to hit its most intense run of episodes as the season ends. To go even further, he let everyone know that the season finale is one to remember.

When talking to EW this week, Gimple revealed that the final episode of the season - airing on April 2 - will have everyone gasping for air.

"We step on the gas and we do not let our foot off the gas until the end of episode 16," he says. "Although because I'm working on season 8 now, the foot is on the gas again! I mean, the next three episodes we're going to shoot you through a lot of big events and things become quantum intense."

Gimple didn't stop there, saying that the finale was a mix of everything we've seen so far this season.

"I just think it's everything. It is everything and the kitchen sink. It is exciting and it's very emotional and I believe it's funny in a couple parts, and it builds and builds and builds and it explodes. And though it promises more — because there is a whole lot to get to — there is an ending. It really is just a huge episode inasmuch as it has all of the flavors of this season. It is taking your cup and going down each soda jet and taking a little from each one and then throwing in some hot sauce, a little bit of lime, and then maybe a tiny bit of tequila, as well."

From the sound of things, these next three weeks are going to be a thrill-ride for The Walking Dead fans. Are you prepared?
